Summary of Revelation 22:6-11

John goes to worship the angel who revealed these sights to him. The angel tells him only God should be worshipped. Jesus tells John to let those who do wrong continue to do so, as well as those who do right.

BSF Study Questions Revelation: The Hope Lesson 29, Day 2: Revelation 22:6-11

3a) The fact that the words are from God.

b) All Scripture is God-breathed (2 Timothy 3:16-17) to teach us, so we can trust everything we read in God’s Word. It’s important to know that everything is in the Bible and it has a purpose. This is so people don’t think they are just good stories similar to myths. These are teachings to help us lead a Godly life and to bring us to salvation in Jesus.

4) We are to look forward to heaven and to have hope in Jesus when we die. We know that there is more to the world than our present life, and we can continue to do God’s will until we are called to be with Him. Prophecy allows us to trust and obey God and apply God’s truth to how we live our lives.

5a) John fell down to worship at the feet of the angel who had been showing them to me. He could have been feeling overwhelmed, drained from the effort, and worshipful for what he had seen. He could have been overcome in the moment, too.

b) The angel immediately rebuked him and said, “Don’t do that! I am a fellow servant with you and with your fellow prophets and with all who keep the words of this scroll. Worship God!”

c) Good question. The immediacy of it all. The satisfaction and gratification of it. And, how easy it is rather than resist.

d) God’s Word and prayer help me to recognize and resist all of the world’s temptations. Dwelling on Jesus and the Word helps me to put on my armor and fight another day.

Conclusions BSF Study Questions Revelation: The Hope Lesson 29, Day 2: Revelation 22:6-11

It’s interesting to see that even John was confused and worshipped the wrong things. I think this is a great example of how we can get when we are tired, overwhelmed, and weak, both physically and mentally. We can be quick to sin and make poor decisions. This is when we need the Lord’s strength the most.

End Notes BSF Study Questions Revelation: The Hope Lesson 29, Day 2: Revelation 22:6-11

Jesus is speaking when he says that he is coming soon and blessed are those who keep these words.

Quickly here could mean “suddenly” in the original Greek.

This is the second time John worshipped an angel Revelation 19:10 as recorded in Scripture.

Nothing created should ever be worshipped. Only God and Jesus.

Angels worship God, too (Hebrews 1:6)

The warning could either be from the angel or from Jesus.

Basically, if you don’t believe the warnings in the book of Revelation by now, you probably won’t change your ways. You will be evil or good till the End Times.

Summary of Revelation 22:12-16

Jesus speaks, telling John he is coming soon and will give each person according to what they have done. Blessed are those who wash their robes/do his commandments. They will have the right to the Tree of Life and to enter the New Jerusalem. Outside are unbelievers and evil-doers. Jesus sent his angels so that John could give his testimony to the churches.

BSF Study Questions Revelation: The Hope Lesson 29, Day 3: Revelation 22:12-16

6a) “Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.” Jesus says he is God and he has existed since the beginning and will to the end. He will reward those who are with him, which means they will have eternal life.

b) This world is temporary. Our reward is in heaven after this life. I need to remember that the only kingdom worth fighting for is God’s.

7a) There are the believers and the unbelievers; those who accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior and those who do not. Those who turn from sin and truly repent, and those who choose sin and evil over God and His ways.

b) I belong to Jesus! Because I’ve accepted him as my Lord and Savior into my heart. I am His!

8 ) I will ask Jesus to help me grow closer to him, to do His will over my own, to follow His path for my life, and to accomplish His purposes through me.

Conclusions BSF Study Questions Revelation: The Hope Lesson 29, Day 3: Revelation 22:12-16

I love how Jesus is clear here, giving believers hope and warning unbelievers what is to come if they don’t turn to him. So powerful! Words to cling to when we are down and out in the doldrums of life.

End Notes BSF Study Questions Revelation: The Hope Lesson 29, Day 3: Revelation 22:12-16

Jesus reminds us who he is and stresses the urgency of being ready. Jesus makes it clear that he is God by using the same titles that applies to God.

Verses 14 and 15 could be Jesus, John, or an angel speaking.

Following Jesus is evidence that you are his. We do works for Jesus, and it blesses us, too.

We shouldn’t take this literally as people will be outside of New Jerusalem. Unbelievers will be banished to hell. This just means they are outside of heaven forever.

Jesus tells us that the entire book of Revelation is true and is meant for the churches/everyone.

Fun Fact: This is the first reference to the church since the beginning of the book Revelation 2-3.

Jesus uses Messianic titles here:

Jesus says he created David, but he’s also from David.

Summary of Revelation 22:17-21

The Spirit and the bride extend an invitation to all to come. John then warns people to not add or take away from this prophecy or face consequences.

BSF Study Questions Revelation: The Hope Lesson 29, Day 4: Revelation 22:17-21

9a) The invitation is one to come to Jesus. It is offered by the Spirit and the bride. The gift is free if you come; all it takes is saying “yes” to Jesus!

b) He is definitely making me thirst and seek Him more and more as I gain a greater understanding of what the world will be like at the End Times.

10) So many people try to twist the words of the Bible to meet their needs. We cannot alter God’s Word. Too much is at stake — literally life and death.

11) “Yes, I am coming soon.” John responds by asking Jesus to come quickly, too. We all should want Jesus to come soon. Can you imagine? And then we don’t have to experience a physical death, either.

Conclusions BSF Study Questions Revelation: The Hope Lesson 29, Day 4: Revelation 22:17-21

Love the ending of Revelation with the hope and what’s most important — coming to Jesus!

End Notes BSF Study Questions Revelation: The Hope Lesson 29, Day 4: Revelation 22:17-21

Jesus is offering an open invitation to people to come similar to what we see in  Isaiah 55:1.

God gives freely. We don’t have to bring Him anything (He needs nothing from us). Other religions require sacrifices. Not here.

An invitation to salvation closes the Bible How magnificent!

Bible scholars are unsure who is speaking at the end — Jesus, an angel, or John. A majority believe this is John speaking.

The message of Revelation can be summed up here: Jesus is coming quickly. We are to be ready!

John asks Jesus to come.

Grace to us all. Paul likes to end his books/letters in this way too.  (1 Corinthians 16:232 Corinthians 13:141 Thessalonians 5:282 Thessalonians 3:18). In 2 Thessalonians 3:17-18

The last words of the Old Testament are a curse (Malachi 4:6); here it is grace!

How great is our God!

Fun Fact: Jesus announces 3 times he is coming soon (Revelation 22:7, 12, 20)

Revelation is a letter from John asking God to pour out his grace on us.

Fun Fact: In the book of Revelation, the word “grace” only appears in the introduction and conclusion.

Grace is throughout this book.

BSF Study Questions Revelation: The Hope Lesson 29, Day 5: Revelation 22:6-21

12) It definitely reminds me that we don’t belong on this side of heaven. I need to constantly be aware of those around me who don’t believe or who I am unsure if they believe and just talk about Jesus more and give him the credit more.

13) The book of Revelation is definitely challenging. It has some dire/eternal consequences in it if you don’t choose Jesus. I am challenged more to evangelize more and just be aware of and think of others more when it comes to salvation.

Conclusions BSF Study Questions Revelation: The Hope Lesson 29, Day 5: Revelation 22:6-21

Love this book! I wish pastors would preach more on it, but I think they are afraid to turn others off. Yet, there is so much richness here and so much hope to focus on!

BSF Study Questions Revelation: The Hope Lesson 30, Day 2: Magnifying God

3) It’s so amazing that we have the word of God and we can read it and study it any time we want. The book of Revelation is so full of hope that it is essential reading. I feel blessed to have a God that loves me so much to give me His Word, the future, and promises. So amazing!

4) This is my second time studying the Book of Revelation with BSF and I feel like this go-around I got so much more from it. I understand the hope and the End Times so much better. I understand His plan. And, I do believe I understand His will for me a bit more. God is holy and pure, intolerant of sin and evil. Understanding that aspect of His character gives me a deeper understanding of Revelation.

5) I feel I can be more open with Jesus in terms of prayer. I feel I am more grateful and appreciative. I feel closer to Jesus. Any time I’m in the Word, I feel I grow closer to Christ the tiniest bit. I am grateful to BSF for these great studies so that I can grow closer to Christ

Conclusions BSF Study Questions Revelation: The Hope Lesson 30, Day 2: Magnifying God

I feel like the Book of Revelation is the ultimate magnification of God because it is where His plan is finally consummated through Jesus and His overall plan for the world.

It’s just so great and magnificent that it’s hard to put into words.

BSF Study Questions Revelation: The Hope Lesson 30, Day 5: Facing Forward

11) I think I was more open to speaking to others about the consequences of not turning to Jesus. It’s easy, as Christians, to assume that everyone knows that if they don’t accept Jesus, they will face eternal damnation, but oftentimes, many don’t know this. I hope that being closer to God and Jesus overflows into my daily life and therefore into others’ lives as they see my example.

12) I’m always challenged by my actions and attitude towards others because it is hard to put others first and see them as they are rather than as I want them to be. I learned to pray more through it and put my faith in God to work in the situation.

BSF Study Questions Revelation: The Hope Lesson 30, Day 6: Maturing His People

13) Transformative

14) He is calling me to follow more of His plan for my life rather than my plan for my life. I need to cut out what I think I need to do and follow what He wants me to do instead.

15) This is a tough one. There were so many good lessons. The most convicting message for me was how mercy and justice are up to God. He grants us mercy out of His great love for us. He deals out justice; not us.

16) Dear Lord, thank you for your relentless pursuit of my heart and for directing my path to be your path. Let me always follow you to the ends of the earth and beyond. Amen.

Conclusions to BSF Study Questions Revelation: The Hope Lesson 30, Day 6: Maturing His People

I love studying the book of Revelation. I believe it is the most understudied book in the Bible, but it’s also one of the most important books. It’s worth the time to understand its meaning and its grace to all of us. It has so much to offer, and every time I study it, I believe I am more knowledgeable in the Word.

I hope you have enjoyed this study of the Book of Revelation as much as I have and have gained maybe a bit from my answers and online Bible study here.

I am so very much looking forward to next year and the People of the Promise: Exile and Return, and I hope you all join me here as always.

I will once again be doing WordGo studies at some point this summer after a bit of a break. I will post those studies and dates I choose in advance, so you can join me if you like.

God bless, and have a wonderful summer!
